Hey CTE Family! We have the wonderful opportunity this year to help raise money for one of our own here at Carroll Magnet Middle School. This year is the 4th annual Sami 5k. Each year the Sami 5k sponsors a family with medical expenses and donates 100% of the proceeds to the family. What began as an event to help one family has now evolved to an annual event that continues to help other families in need. This year 100% of the proceeds will go to our student Chris Holich. Chris suffers from Mitochondrial Complex 1. It’s a rare disease that develops in the first year of infancy and is a rapidly progressive disease. He is often in and out of the hospital and insurance won’t cover all his medical expenses. Our Carroll family is extremely important to us and we are constantly teaching our students #OtherPeopleMatter. So this is just one way we get to show Chris just how much he matters to us!!!

Just by donating $10 not only will you be giving to a great cause but you will also get a chance to win a bundle pack from me just to show how grateful Carroll Middle is for your donation. Also, get entered into a raffle for Rodans and Fields accessories worth over $200! Register below:

PLTW Innovators and Makers and App Creators

It has been a really busy week learning procedures, gaining logins, accessing devices, and beginning our journey into Computer Science.  Please ask your child, "What does a computer scientist do?" You'll be surprised at how their understanding and awareness has grown already! Next week, we begin the self-paced work with paired programming in App Creators. It will be important to remind your child about how to work well with a partner. We will discuss this at school, also. Innovators and Makers have been learning about physical computing and how a computer processes information. It's quite a task.  Next week, they will begin writing programs and be using their online text to independently walk through algorithms.
